who am i
i am a turkish-american analog photographer, born and raised in midtown manhattan. i’m currently a senior at pratt institute.
my closest friend died when i was 17.
this came to define my work, surrounding ideas of loss, nostalgia, memory, and stillness. i strive to make my images eternal, blurring the line between reality, time, and place.
my experience growing up in new york has given me a perspective like no other. i have witnessed the highest of highs in society and the lowest of lows. here i am, amidst the chaos, finding solace in what remains close to me: the architecture, fabric, culture, people, and essence of a city that is rapidly changing.
this translates into all my work shot outside of new york. knowing and appreciating that my roots stem elsewhere, i respect, appreciate and immerse myself in the cultures of other places, rather than distilling it through an outsider’s perspective.
lastly, i do this shit because i love this shit.
